Police launch manhunt for three suspects following shooting on Winnie Mandela Drive

Police are urging the public to contact their nearest police stations or call crime stop on 08600 10111 if they have any information regarding this incident.

The South African Police Service (SAPS) has opened a case of attempted murder after a man was shot and injured in a drive-by shooting at the Winnie Mandela Drive off-ramp, in Bryanston on November 30 at approximately 09:30.

It is reported that the victim, who was driving a Golf R, had just taken the off-ramp from the N1 south when he was shot at by three suspects who were driving a white Toyota Corolla.

“The victim was able to stop his vehicle, and he was rushed to the medical care centre in a serious but stable condition.

“The motive for the shooting cannot be confirmed at this stage. Although it is suspected to be linked to taxi violence as the victim is believed to be a taxi owner and serving on the executive committee of one of the taxi associations in Ekurhuleni,” said Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo in a statement.

Police are appealing to anyone who might have information that can help in the investigation or assist in the apprehension of the suspects to please call the nearest police station or call crime stop on 08600 10111.

Information can also be given anonymously via the MySAPS app, which can be downloaded from any smartphone.
