Hearts of Hope partners with a local brand to support vulnerable children

Hearts of Hope recently partnered with Beanco Coffee Crafters to diversify its funding and give more children vulnerable the help and support they deserve.

In an effort to help give more children the best life possible, local children’s home Hearts of Hope recently partnered with a home-grown coffee brand to diversify its funding.

Hearts of Hope, based in Wendywood, collaborated with BeanCo Coffee Crafters to offer quality coffee beans to the community all while supporting the 52 children between the ages of zero and nine at the home.

According to Catherin Bean, development manager at the non-profit organisation, in the current economic climate, there is limited funding available for charities and non-profits. This means that charities are forced to adapt and become more creative and proactive with their funding avenues.

“Corporates are inundated daily with proposals from charities needing funding, and the pot of money is dwindling. Hearts of Hope needed to ‘think out of the box’ in order to find other ways to sustain the organisation and attract the resources needed to care for the children.”

BeanCo Coffee Crafters was birthed by Zach Lombard and his wife. With a passion for good quality coffee and the community, a partnership with the brand was fitting.

“This passion for people and good coffee was something that resonated with us at Hearts of Hope; and so, began a great partnership.

“It was a win-win, great coffee while at the same time providing support for orphans and vulnerable children. It would also give us a way to begin becoming less reliant on donor funding and becoming more sustainable – a long-term goal, but something that we are working towards.”

Bean added that the funds raised through the partnership will go towards the implementation of a number of programmes and outcomes.

This included its resident care (improving access to a place of safety and security for orphan and vulnerable children), health and wellbeing (sustained nutrition and physical activities for each child), remedial and psycho-social support, medical interventions and education.
