Crawford International Sandton karateka shines bright

Four students from Crawford International Sandton excelled in a recent karate championship.

For Crawford International Sandton, four junior karatekas at the school produced outstanding results in recent championships.

Cassidy Jones, in Grade 3, took gold for kata and kumite at the South African Japan Karate Association (SA JKA) provincial karate competition and qualified for nationals.

Not only did they fly the school flag high, but they made themselves and their parents proud. Nadia Cookie, project coordinator at the school, highlighted that the school as a whole is proud and happy for their achievements and wishes them well for their next competitions.

Christian Jones, in Grade 2, took bronze for Kata at the SA JKA Karate, received his provincial colours, and qualified for nationals.

Kaitlyn Boonzaier, in Grade 5, competed in the Gauteng JKA championships, received a silver in kumite and a bronze in kata, and also achieved her Gauteng colours. She will be able to participate in the SA JKA championships in July.
