Bryneven opens multipurpose sports field

Bryneven Primary School had a ribbon cutting ceremony to open their new multi-purpose sports field.

Bryneven Primary School has embraced the future of school sports by opening their new astroturf sports field. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was hosted by the school on September 22, ushering in a new era of sports at the school.

“I’m so excited to cut the ribbon to officially open your new multipurpose court today,” said school governing body (SGB) chairperson Liesl Van Der Walt. “Before I can take the scissors and cut the ribbon, I have to tell you about all the sports that you can do on that field.”

According to Van Der Walt, the new field is tailored to the sports of netball, hockey and soccer, to mention a few. The R1.8M sports field was paid for through the school’s fundraisers, and took approximately three months to complete, according to Bryneven Primary School deputy principal Charlene Kotze.

“This project was funded by our parents; our parents worked hard with fundraising to make this all possible,” said Kotze. “There was a lot of work in planning, getting engineers, to make sure that everything is tip-top, and that we get the best that we can.”
