Parkmore woman found deceased

The Sandton Chronicle was contacted by numerous community members, shocked by what they have heard.

The body of a woman was discovered in Parkmore on the morning of October 29.

The Parkmore Community Association (PCA) released a statement, “A runner that frequents the facility was reported missing around 09:00 when they did not finish their run when expected.  A search ensued and it is with sadness that we confirm that a body was discovered.”

The Sandton Chronicle fielded multiple messages and phone calls from concerned community members. They have simply asked for a better explanation of what happened.

Sandton Community Policing Forum (CPF) spokesperson Roshan Byinal was among the persons contacted for further information. “Regrettably, we cannot share any information out of respect for the family,” said Byinal. “We have to respect that it’s an active police investigation.”

The association continued by saying, “Members of the PCA and CPF were on scene for most of the day to assist the police and forensics team, who are busy with a thorough investigation.  Due to the sensitive nature of this incident, we had to make sure of the facts and also allow time for the family and friends to be notified before posting any information on a public forum.

Police spokesperson Captain Jeff Phora was contacted early on October 30, to gain a clearer picture of the incident. Yet, no comment from the police was released by the time of publishing.

This is a developing story and will be updated as soon as further information is obtained.

*In a previous version of this article it said that she was found by family members and on the side of the road. This is inaccurate. The Sandton Chronicle apologises for this error.
