Chronicles of Kim Jayde in 2024

Entrepreneur Kim Jayde looks back at the year, and forwards towards the new year.

As the year winds down towards the holiday season, Sandown-based entrepreneur and media personality Kim Jayde took a beat on November 8 to reflect on some of her highlights of the year.

“I founded a sneaker show, I went to the Forbes summit in Cincinnati, Ohio, a few weeks ago, and I run my own production house and creative agency, working with amazing clients on some big projects next year,” Jayde said, sharing her adventures. “What I am taking into 2025 is continuing to push a pro-united-Africa narrative through creative projects, my shows, and hosting. I’m going to be hosting Miss Zimbabwe on November 30, which is massive.”

Jayde was born in Zimbabwe and moved to South Africa in 2009. She projected that 2025 would be the year for developing deeper self-understanding.

“It’s going to be an exciting 2025, just as a female entrepreneur and creative. I’m leaving behind self-doubt. Words have power, and we speak life into our futures. In five years, I’m going to have a successful established business and I’ll be an ambassador for my country in some way, shape, or form.”

The year wasn’t all sunshine and roses for Jayde, though, who overcame her fair share of tribulations as well.

“I probably faced the most difficult, challenging, and painful personal experiences in my whole life this year. That taught me to never lose sight of who you are. It sounds corny, but I think a lot of people can relate. I think I lost myself for a while, and I’m so back. This year taught me to never lose sight of God, and to never forget who I am, and what makes me special.”

Still, Jayde remains unjaded, as she looks forward towards a restful holiday season with her family who will join her in Hermanus for Christmas.

“I’m so excited. For the people who will be in Johannesburg, not travelling, just be present around the people whom you surround yourselves with,” Jayde said, wishing the Sandton community a happy holiday season. “Whether you’re having a massive Christmas feast, or it’s peanut butter on bread with tea: the holiday season isn’t about the home you live in, or the food you’re eating, or the things you have; it’s about the company you surround yourself with. That’s what festive should be.”
