Joburg Water announces temporary water shutdown in Sandton and surrounds
Residents in Sandton and surrounding areas will be without water for over 10 hours.

Johannesburg Water (JW) has announced a temporary water shutdown effective tonight from 18:00 tonight (February 7) to 05:00 tomorrow morning (February 8).
According to the water utility, the shutdown is part of its efforts to ensure equal redistribution of water to areas within the JW network that are struggling with water systems.
Residents in Linbro Park and Malboro will be mostly affected by JW’s water management intervention, while customers in Sandton and surrounds are likely to experience low water pressure to no water.

Residents have been warned to expect brownish water once water meters have been reopened in the morning. JW has assured those who will be affected by the shutdown that this is a common issue caused by mineral buildup in the water pipes and can be resolved by running the taps for a short while.
Areas that will be affected by the Sandton System include:
- Linbro Park direct feed,
- Malboro direct feed,
- Linbro Park reservoir,
- Malboro reservoir,
- Illovo reservoir & Illovo tower,
- Bryanston reservoir & Bryanston tower, and
- Morningside reservoir.
