JRA responds to Kew pothole concerns

Drivers on the 9th Road, Kew, are urged to remain cautious until repairs are completed.

Following our report on dangerous potholes along 9th Road in Kew, the Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) has confirmed it is aware of the hazards and has already conducted inspections.

Bertha Peters-Scheepers, Operations Manager for Marketing and Communications at JRA, said repairs are scheduled once work on nearby 10th Road is complete.

“From July 1, our teams are working on 10th Road in Kew. Once that intersection is done, expected within three to four days, we will start on 9th Road in the week of July 7 to 11, 2025,” Peters-Scheepers said.

She explained that resource constraints have contributed to the delay, but assured residents that repairs are prioritised.
“We acknowledge the risk these potholes pose to drivers. Our teams are working as fast as possible to ensure safer roads in the area.”
