Sandton movement empowers women to step into their divine purpose

The Wena Wesifazane Ukhululiwe Movement is helping women overcome fear and self-doubt, empowering them to grow, glow, and flow in their God-given purpose.

Women have always been pillars of families, communities, and nations, yet many continue to face unseen barriers of fear, limitation, and self-doubt.
The Wena Wesifazane Ukhululiwe Movement exists to change that narrative, helping women step into their God-given purpose.

The movement was hosted by the Light Shedding Africa Foundation at Hotel Sky Sandton on October 25, under the leadership of Khanyisile Madlala, CEO of the foundation.

Madlala explained the vision behind the movement. “Our heart is with women and children because when you empower a woman and protect a child, you are building a nation.

This movement is about reminding women that their freedom and their purpose are tied to destiny, not just their own, but the destiny of generations.

“The phrase: Wena Wesifazane Ukhululiwe, translates to: Woman, you are free. It is a call to every woman to rise, reclaim her identity, and live fully in alignment with her divine destiny.”

She added that the timing of the gathering was symbolic. Held in October, following the Jewish New Year [Rosh Hashanah] and two months away from the end of 2025, the event represented a season of spiritual renewal and purpose.

Madlala emphasised the importance of letting go of the past. “Whatever any woman has walked in with, we are declaring that it is done, it is over. It’s time to grow, glow, and flow in your divine destiny.”

Through workshops, mentorships, and faith-based empowerment, women were encouraged to release limitations and embrace opportunities for growth, skills development, and personal transformation.

Bernardette Zeilir, CEO of the Johannesburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry, highlighted the collective impact of women working together.

“Women form an integral part of society and community. As we walk together and take arms together, we can create opportunities, address unemployment, and inspire others to grow and expand.”

Zeilir emphasised that empowerment is about purpose and service. “Ask yourself: ‘What is my purpose, and how can I make a difference in someone else’s life?’. When women uplift one another, we unlock the greatness within all of us.

“The Wena Wesifazane Ukhululiwe Movement reminds women that their growth and empowerment have a ripple effect. An empowered woman nurtures confident children, strengthens families, and leads communities toward progress.”

Through initiatives like this, the Light Shedding Africa Foundation continues its mission to empower women and protect children, partnering with charities such as Ronald McDonald House Charities and House of Bethany.

In her conclusion, Madlala said: “It’s time for women to align with God’s purpose, to grow, to glow, and to flow, not just for themselves, but for the generations that follow.”
