Parkmore’s Halloween Festival raises funds for children’s bike track

The Parkmore Community Association’s much-loved Halloween festival lit up Shandon Way Park with laughter, creativity, and plenty of sweet treats as families gathered for a morning of spooky fun, all in support of a great community cause.

The Parkmore Community Association (PCA) once again brought families together for a morning of spooky fun and community pride at its annual Halloween Festival on November 2, this year with a special mission to raise funds for a children’s bike track at Shandon Way Park.

Organised by Charvinia Naidoo, with guidance from long-time volunteer Janine Faustino, the event was a true team effort. Lori Klein (suburb manager), Bron Schultz (head of the marketing portfolio), and Lavash Chetty (head of special projects) all played key roles in ensuring the day’s success.

This year’s Halloween celebration went beyond costumes and candy. It was about building something lasting for Parkmore’s children, a safe, exciting space where they can ride their bikes, make friends, and enjoy the outdoors.

The project forms part of the PCA’s mission to keep the neighbourhood safe, clean, connected, and thriving.

Community generosity was on full display, with numerous local sponsors stepping forward to make the event possible. The Milk Bar, KwikSpar, Premier GP, Blaircare Community Pharmacy, Astron, Marco Motor Worx, Del Forno, FasTrackKids, 24/7 Security Services, and Firzt Estate Agents all contributed funds, sweets, and support on the day.

A special shoutout goes to Sinderella Costume Hire, which joined the festive spirit by offering a R50 discount, the full value of a Halloween ticket, to anyone who presented their ticket in-store.

In the week leading up to the festival, residents and local businesses rallied together, donating sweets and money to help make the day magical for the children.

Reflecting on the festival’s success, Bron Schultz, PCA marketing director, said it perfectly captured the essence of Parkmore’s community spirit.

“Halloween in Parkmore is about more than just dressing up,” Schultz said. “It’s about coming together as a community. We’re so grateful to everyone who helped make this year’s festival possible.
“The funds raised will help us take the next step toward building the bike track, creating a safe and fun space for our kids right here in Shandon Way Park.”

Schultz added that the PCA is committed to hosting more community-driven events throughout the year, supporting local businesses, and working with 24/7 Security Services to keep residents safe, especially as the festive season approaches.

“Events like this remind us why Parkmore is such a wonderful place to live,” Schultz said. “It’s about connection, care, and ensuring that our suburb continues to grow stronger together.”
