Suits & Sneakers founder speaks on modern happiness in Kramerville
In a new space, with new energy, founder of Suits & Sneakers Mark Sham gave a talk that challenged almost every idea we have about happiness.
Suits & Sneakers reopened its upgraded Kramerville clubhouse, The Tryst, on November 18, with a full-house talk by founder Mark Sham.
The session, titled: Happiness isn’t what you think, was blunt, funny, and sometimes confrontational.

Sham argued that modern life feels overwhelming, because the world has grown more complex while people haven’t developed the skills to manage that complexity.
He drew on his own personal upheaval in 2019, when a broken engagement pushed him into a period of introspection and research, like Scott Galloway’s lecture highlighting declining US life expectancy, driven by suicide and overdoses.
He said the real gap begins with education. “School equips people with technical subjects, but not emotional tools. Many numb discomforts, whether through escapism or work, instead of building resilience.”

Sham framed happiness as a form of emotional infrastructure grounded in self-awareness. It’s a daily practice, he told the audience, questioning triggers, interrogating reactions, and examining the stories we accept about success, identity, and meaning.
The revamped clubhouse, with its new AV setup and interior refresh, is meant to support this kind of open, challenging conversation.
Sham said he chose this talk to relaunch the space because it’s his most honest work. “Happiness isn’t a mood; it’s a practice… Uncomfortable, but necessary.”
