Warriors FC wrap up the season with a festive family match in Parkmore

Warriors FC families celebrated another year of progress and shared memories, marking a warm and light-hearted close to the season.

Warriors FC closed off their 2025 season with a lively end-of-year celebration on November 30 at the Sandton Sports Club in Parkmore.

What began as a standard season wrap-up quickly turned into an afternoon of laughter, friendly rivalry, and a bit of chaos as parents took to the field to play against their children’s coaches.

The atmosphere was relaxed and festive, with young players cheering from the sidelines as their parents tried to keep up with the pace of a full match.

The result was a game filled with enthusiasm, missed tackles, unexpected goals, and the kind of spirited effort that had the children shouting with pride.

Parents may wake up with stiff muscles and a few regrets, but for the children, it was a rare treat to watch the adults step into their world for a day.

Herold Matodzi, director of coaching at Warriors FC, said the event captured exactly what the club values.

“We spend the whole year pushing development, discipline, and structure on the field, but days like this remind us that football is also about joy and connection. Seeing parents run, slip, score, and sometimes struggle a bit shows the players that everyone is learning in their own way.”

Matodzi added that ending the season with a parent-versus-coaches match gives families a deeper sense of belonging.

“The kids love watching their parents try the drills they do every week. It builds respect both ways and strengthens the community around the club. That’s as important as any game we play during the year.”
