Curro Bryanston Preschool celebrates 10 years with Curiosity Approach accreditation
The early childhood facility marked its 10th birthday with a day of entertainment while becoming the first school on the continent to earn the early learning milestone.
Smiles and laughter filled Curro Bryanston Preschool on September 11 as the school celebrated a decade of nurturing young minds.
The milestone provided an opportunity to look back on the preschool’s journey since opening in 2015, while marking a new chapter as the first Curro school in South Africa and Africa to gain accreditation for the Curiosity Approach.

Executive head Angie Bezuidenhout said the achievement was a proud moment for the entire school community, adding that the preschool caters for children from three months to six years old.
Curiosity Approach explained
The Curiosity Approach is an educational philosophy encouraging educators to work with children’s natural curiosity, allowing them to explore and learn through meaningful play and real-life experiences.
“You won’t find plastic single-use items in our school,” Bezuidenhout said. “It’s real, authentic play, and that’s what we work on.”
Decade of growth
The preschool’s story began in 2015 when a property consisting of three houses, two swimming pools and a tennis court was demolished to make way for a dedicated early childhood facility.
“That is exactly what we are celebrating today. We have survived Covid-19. We have created a space where real human connection counts, and that’s what makes our school different from any other. You walk in, and you are part of a family. We don’t enrol a child; we enrol a family.”

The birthday celebration reflected that family spirit, with young learners enjoying a day filled with activities designed for fun.
Young minds enjoyed games and entertainment, including jumping castles, while well-known magician Trevor ‘Trickey Trevor’ Duffy provided magic tricks to keep the audience entertained.
The festivities also featured classic school-party favourites, including hot dogs and popcorn, creating a celebratory atmosphere for children and school staff.
For Bezuidenhout, the occasion represented two major milestones: the preschool’s 10th birthday and its achievement in becoming the first Curro school in South Africa and Africa to be accredited for the Curiosity Approach.
