Meet Bryneven Primary School’s next Proteas player

The plan is to send him to a really good high school and play for the first team and continue to play for Gauteng as well.

Bryneven Primary School in Bryanston is proud to have a possible future professional cricketer in their midst.
Nicholas Bayly (12) was inspired by his dad to try it out and has a natural talent for the sport. He was recently drafted to be part of T20 franchise cricket team, Queensland Griffins.
“I felt really good when I got told about it and I hope it carries on. I’m sure it will be a lot of fun. My favourite thing is definitely batting, I love playing cricket,” he said.

Passionate about the sport, Nicholas said he was practising every day to get better and better. And while trying to cope with the pandemic, he said he was also happy to be back at school.

“Online schooling hasn’t been too bad. Now getting back to school, I have been separated from all of my friends, so it has been quite hard. It is better than online schooling because at least you have someone to talk to and you can interact with the teachers,” he said.

Proud mom Inga said she was super proud of her son and saw him as a future Proteas player.

“It’s every little boy’s dream and the big goal for him. The plan is to send him to a really good high school and play for the first team and continue to play for Gauteng as well. His dream is to be a cricketer but he is also fairly academic,” she said.

She added that her son was very excited to get back into the game and lucky to be at such a great school such as Bryneven.

“We have an amazing principal now and some great cricket coaches as well. Nicholas has just been very blessed to be at Bryneven and have such incredible support from his teachers and coaches.”

A bright future, we can look forward to seeing Nicholas excel as a cricketer in the future.
