They went down 5–0 against their opponents, Oblates, in the Masters Hockey League fixture on April 18. While the results did not favour the home team, the match was filled with energy as players, aged 40 to around 70, gave it their all in a social yet competitive league.

They just came up a little bit more organised than we were, and a bit younger. They showed us how to play the game. I loved the game. Plenty of spirit. We really enjoyed it.

“We lost, so we are not happy. We all like to win, but it was a great game, played against some good players. We just have to pick up our game. We were a little soft and slow. Most of our regular players are not around. I guess, maybe, it’s because of the school holidays, but hopefully we will be with them in the next game.”

Oblates captain Carl Eichstadt praised the positive atmosphere of the game. “We always come out on Saturday and have a festive game of hockey. Today, was against Vagabonds, and we managed to get five goals against them. It was really a lovely outing, played in a great spirit and enjoyed by everybody.”
