Back to the hockey season, the Morningside Hockey Club ladies returned to the field on July 26 for a competitive clash against Crusaders Hockey Club.

The closely contested encounter ended in a draw, earning both teams a point in the league.

Morningside captain Courtney Walker said the result was another positive step for her side, who are looking to move up the standings after a slow start to the season.

“We played really well. We are at the bottom at the moment this season, so we need to climb our way up. Last week we won and got three points, and today we got one point, which is still great. We are hoping to keep climbing up the log,” said Walker.

She praised her teammates for their determination and attacking play.

“I am really happy about my team. We are playing really well and scoring some goals.”

Crusaders captain Sam van Heerden admitted it was not her side’s best performance but was pleased they managed to rescue a point.

“Today was a tough game. I feel like we didn’t play as well as we normally should, but they put up a really good fight.
