Videos: Cement truck ploughs into more than 15 vehicles in Roodepoort

Doreen road has been cordoned off by emergency services as they deal with the catastrophe.

More than 15 vehicles have been destroyed in a horrific accident after a truck carrying cementĀ  jack-knifed while travelling down Doreen Road in Ruimsig this afternoon, 25 February.

The corner of Doreen and Malcom Roads, outside the Ruimsig Shopping CentreĀ has been cordoned off by emergency services as they deal with the catastrophe.

Reports from the scene indicates that the truck driver ignored the 5 ton road signage on top of the hill and decided to travel down the steep road.

It is also reported that it failed to stop at the top traffic light and struck the first vehicle before plunging into other vehicles as it slid down the road.

A number of patients have been transported to hospitals.

The road is currently filled with dust emanating from the scattered bags of cement that fell from the truck.
