Jomo Cosmos starts their ABC Motsepe campaign at home
"A notable past example of his talent spotting is former Bafana Bafana captain Aaron Mokoena."
SEDIBENG.- Jomo Cosmos will begin their ABC Motsepe 2026/ 2027 season by playing Young Pirates FC at Isak Steyl Stadium on September 26.
Both teams are in Stream B because the Gauteng ABC Motsepe League is split into two streams.
This match is a local derby because both clubs play their home games in the Vaal area, using Sicelo Stadium and Isak Steyl Stadium, respectively.
Last season, both teams finished outside the top eight.
Young Pirates FC nearly challenged for the league title at one point before fading, and they have now hired experienced local coach Isaac Mphhasane to help them win promotion to the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
This opening game will test the character and readiness of both sides.
Jomo Cosmos previously fought against relegation and must avoid making that same mistake this term
The upcoming season will feature 12 teams in each of the two Gauteng streams.
The Jomo Cosmos boss and coach was seen scouting talent at a local tournament, continuing his reputation for finding unknown youngsters and turning them into famous South African football stars. A notable past example of his talent spotting is former Bafana Bafana captain Aaron Mokoena, who also comes from the Vaal and went on to become a major star in Europe.
Sedibeng Ster Sport will provide all the latest updates once the league begins.
