VANDERBIJLPARK.- Basketball returned to VUT when the Sedibeng Basketball Association hosted a development basketball tournament at the Isak Steyl Basketball Courts in Vanderbijlpark on Saturday.
The tournament featured teams from across Sedibeng competing for the championship. This was also part of the process of selecting the Sedibeng Basketball Team for both boys and girls in the under-16 and under-18 categories. This tournament attracted a large number of basketball teams from across Sedibeng, all aiming to identify the best players.
The day was filled with non-stop action, highlighting the talent present. The primary goal of the tournament was to choose the Sedibeng basketball teams for the under-16 and under-18 divisions, which will participate in the newly formed Basketball League Gauteng.
The league is set to commence on April 29, with teams from Ekurhuleni, Tshwane, Johannesburg, West Rand, and Sedibeng competing against each other. Sedibeng Ster Sport was informed that the establishment of this league aims to promote competitive basketball in Gauteng.
