A massive ANC door to door campaign at Sebokeng Hostel

The aim was to connect with the residents of the hostel and reassure them that the ANC is dedicated to serving them and addressing their concerns as people from a disadvantaged area.

SEBOKENG.- Over the past three decades, we have witnessed the evolution and development of the democratic government and its systems to meet the needs and aspirations of the nation.

The general elections are scheduled to be held in South Africa on 29th May, to elect a new National Assembly as well as the provincial legislature in each of the nine provinces. Last Thursday, the African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) launched a door-to-door campaign at Sebokeng Hostel 2.

Anezwa elucidating to a community member on why they should vote for ANC.

The aim was to connect with the residents of the hostel and reassure them that the ANC is dedicated to serving them and addressing their concerns as people from a disadvantaged area.

Despite facing various challenges, the ANC said that it is actively working to address these issues and improve the quality of life for its constituents. The door-to-door campaign aimed to remind the community members that on May 29, everyone in the country must vote.

The ANCYL encouraged residents to vote for the ANC, explaining the three ballots that will be available at the voting stations: National, Provincial, and Local, and encouraging them to cast their votes in all categories. During the campaign, a community member expressed:

“I have been voting for years, but we are still facing struggles such as unemployment, sewage problems, lack of infrastructure, power cuts, and other service delivery challenges. For instance, our community hall where we vote is in poor condition. I believe the President should visit and witness the living conditions here; perhaps that would expedite improvements. Despite these challenges, I will continue to vote because we cannot overlook the positive impact the ANC has had.”

Among the ANCYL members present at the door-to-door campaign were Anezwa Pikoko, RTT Elections Deputy; Rethabile Hlakane, ANCYL Regional Organiser; Yongama Mota, RTT Additional; Lesedi Mokoena, RTT Additional; Siphiwe Radebe, RTT Deployer; and Phillip Nkutha, RTT Coordinator, who led the program.

Anezwa Pikoko, the RTT Elections Deputy, acknowledged the challenges faced but emphasised that challenges are inevitable.
