Two Bophelong males nabbed for possession of illegal firearms and dealing in drugs

A duo is set to appear at Vanderbijlpark Magistrates court on charges of possession of illegal firearms, and dealing in drugs.

BOPHELONG. – Relentless efforts by the police to rid communities of illegal firearms and deal with illegal drugs yielded positive results when two men were arrested in Bophelong on Friday, May 10.

According to Vanderbijlpark police, their task team received information about two African males who were suspected to be dealing drugs and in possession of illegal firearms.

The intelligence-driven information was operationalised, and members in possession of search warrants pounced on two houses and arrested the duo for possession of illegal firearms and dealing in illegal drugs..

“On their arrival at the aforesaid addresses our officers managed to identify the two African males matching the description and their houses were searched.

“During the tour of their search, two unlicensed firearms, live ammunition, and drugs (mandrax, crystal meth, and nyaope) were found in both respective houses,” he said.

Sigcu said the duo was arrested and charged with possession of unlicensed firearms and dealing in drugs.

Acting station commander, Colonel Mashele applauded the swift response of the members and ensured many arrests to come.

Mashele also emphasised the importance of the community members who are working hand in glove with police members.
