Primary schools targeted: Suspect arrested, another electrocuted

While learners are enjoying the last of the holiday, at least two schools have been the target of criminals.

Crimes at primary schools in Mpumalanga and Gauteng saw the arrest of one man, who is currently under police guard in hospital, and the discovery of the body of another suspect, believed to have been electrocuted while he was trying to steel cables.

The Evaton police in Gauteng have opened an inquest docket following the discovery of a body at Bula-Tsela Primary School in Zone 3 Sebokeng on Wednesday.

The Sedibeng Ster reports that police were called to the school where they found a decomposed body of a man aged around 34-years in one of the toilet ceilings.

Police spokesperson, Thulisile Msibi says they estimate they body has been in the school’s ceiling for about three weeks. It was found that the man was busy cutting electric cables when he was electrocuted.

The Lowvelder reports that a case of burglary was recently reported at the Pienaar SAPS in Mpumalanga after a break-in at Yedwa Primary School in Msogwaba.

The investigating team managed to track down the alleged suspect in a house in Moyeni, Msogwaba, where seven computers and a speaker allegedly stolen during the burglary were found.

Mpumalanga police spokesperson, Brigadier Selvy Mohlala says a 38-year-old foreign national is under police guard in hospital after he allegedly tried to escape from lawful custody, resulting in him sustaining injuries.
