SAMWU to Hold a Protest March in Midvaal

The South African Municipal Workers Union (SAMWU) will be marching to the Midvaal Municipal Offices on Thursday, 10 August to deliver a memorandum of demands. The protest march follows numerous grievances which have been raised with the municipal management but have not been attended to.

Workers will be delivering a memorandum of demands which includes the following;

1. Maladministration in the municipality
2. Irregular awarding of the Hollard Tender
3. Irregular appointment of Malhere Attorneys for the council
4. Racism and the protection of racists my municipal management
5. Outsourcing, Privatization and the use of labour brokers in the municipality
6. Failure to reimburse Fire Fighters for training undergone
7. Flawed municipal recruitment process
8. Sexual harassment
Date: Thursday 10 August
Time: Gathering from 09.00, memorandum of demands expected to be delivered at 12:00
Venue: Workers will gather at Caltex Garage on Johan le Roux Street and march towards the Municipal Offices
