Driver survives freak accident

It is not yet clear exactly what led to the accident, as the construction vehicle is much lower than the prescribed maximum height (4.8m) to pass underneath the bridge

Bystanders gathered in shock on Wednesday morning (1 November) at the scene where a truck got stuck underneath a bridge on the M63 between Nigel and Dunnottar.
Ster’s sister newspaper Heidelberg Heraut, reports that the driver of the construction vehicle miraculously survived what could have been a fatal accident.

Magda Maritz, journalist at Heidelberg/Nigel Heraut, reports that it is not yet clear what exactly led to the accident, as the construction vehicle is much lower than the prescribed maximum height (4.8m) and could have passed underneath the bridge with ease. It seems that the hydraulic barge of the truck had accidently been raised shortly before the driver entered the bridge.
The driver sustained minor injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital by ambulance.

There is no severe structural damage to the bridge and an investigation into the accident will follow.
