Beware of employment scam in ELM’s name

SEDIBENG. – Emfuleni Local Municipality(ELM) through its Manager of Communications, Marketing and Branding Stanley Gaba has distanced itself from an employment scam doing the rounds in its name. According to Gaba, the scam has increased its operations following the recent job advertisement issued out by the municipality.

Gaba says that the people involved will send prospective employees or job seekers an sms or contact them via social media inviting them to an interview for a particular fee of R2000 and above. “Emfuleni cautions that no employee or politician is allowed to demand or request money for and vacancy or job interview.The municipality does not demand or request money whatsoever for any recruitment purposes including the administration and processing of employment forms.

“These are done freely by the administrators in pursuance of appointing relevant persons to the particular job. Any person demanding or requesting money or any special favour in exchange of employment opportunity or promise thereof, must be reported immediately to the office of the municipal manager.” Gaba further stated that the municipality distances itself from the dubious operations conducted by any person named “Makhosonke” or “Betty”, demanding any fee, adding that any person depositing such a fee is an accomplice to fraud and corruption..
