Family seeks justice following brutal murder
Police spokesperson Sergeant Busisiwe Motsoeneng confirmed that a murder investigation is underway.
SHARPEVILLE – Police have launched an investigation following the gruesome murder of Tebello Tobetsa Selepe (43). Tobetsa’s body was discovered on November 1 in Sobuza Street, just a few kilometres from his home.
His sister Modiehi Selepe said they were alerted about their brother’s death by community members.
Modiehi said they had last heard their brother’s voice around 04:00 in the morning when he left with three unknown men.
Modiehi said she was shattered by what she saw when she arrived.
“Nothing could have prepared me to see my brother in this manner. I would never wish this experience on anyone. As a family, we will only find peace if the perpetrators can be found and brought to book.”
Modiehi said that she hopes this is not one of those cases that will go cold without any closure for the family. She highlighted the alarming rate of crime, citing that community members no longer feel safe in their neighbourhoods.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Busisiwe Motsoeneng confirmed that a murder investigation is underway.
“Police received a complaint while patrolling Sobuza Street, and on arrival found the lifeless body of an African male. The victim sustained multiple wounds. The motive is unknown at this stage, and the suspect/s are still at large. Investigations in the matter are ongoing.”
Motsoeneng urges anyone with information that can assist the investigation to call the police on 08600 10111 or 112, or by using the MySAPS app.
