Sedibeng K9 arrest suspect for attemted ATM bombing

ENERDALE. – On Monday 31 January at 03:30, Cst Sipiwe Stemele, Cst Mosiuoa Masedi and Cst Ntabiseng Lethoba received information of a possible ATM bombing at Ennerdale Spar.

The members proceeded to the address and held observation. While keeping observation a person approached the ATM and placed something on the ATM and walked away. The person came back to the ATM and the members decided to move in and secured the suspect. Cst Sipwe Stemele then used his patrol/explosive dog Fabio to search the area and explosives, detonator cord and a detonator was found at the ATM. The explosives was already set up and just needed to be triggered.

Through the members dedication the suspect was apprehended and detained at Ennerdale SAPS. Members of Sedibeng Explosive Unit came to scene to disarm and cease the explosives.

The suspect appeared in the Vereeniging court on charges relating to the possession of explosives.
