BOPHELONG. – Gullian Sihlali (52) is a heartbroken man after being told that the RDP house he bought in Muvhango Ext 15 in 2008 was previously bought by another buyer.
Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, Sihlali said he bought the house from the mother and sister of the deceased with R20 000, only to be told now that the original owners bought the house for R65 000.
He said that on May 7, this year, he was approached by people who pretended and claimed to be from the Gauteng Department of Housing who told him that the house had been bought in 2013 by new owners.
He said they showed him a letter from the lawyers, but he was not convinced that those people were from the Department of Housing.
Sihlali claimed that those claiming were officials from the Department of Housing were accompanied by the husband of the woman ( name known to Sedibeng Ster) from whom he bought the house together with her late mother.
“ I have all the documents including the title deed to prove that I bought this house from the family, but now they come back and tell me about the new owners of the house.
Those guys don’t look like they’re from the Department of Housing because if indeed they were from government why would they fraudulently sell an RDP house?
I told the so-called new owners to go and open a case at the police station because they claim they bought the house in 2013 while I bought it in 2008.
This doesn’t make sense to me at all. I have been staying in this house for the past 11 years and now I’m told that somebody bought it in 2013.
“I’m prepared to go to court if this is the case,” he said.
Sedibeng Ster is in possession of the documents that show Sihlali bought the house from the family. Attempts to get hold of the family implicated were fruitless at the time of going to press.
