A pupil has been stabbed to death at Thuto-Tiro Comprehensive School in Sebokeng. Gauteng MEC for Education Panyaza Lesufi confirmed the incident in a statement saying that he along with his team is headed to the high school south of Johannesburg. “It is with sadness and shock to inform that a learner was this morning stabbed to death by another learner with scissors at Thuto-Tiro Comprehensive School in Zone 10, Sebokeng,” the department said in a tweet.
According to a tweet by the Gauteng Department of Education the student was stabbed to death by another student in the classroom with a pair of scissors. The incident took place just before midday.
Last month, a grade 9 pupil stabbed and killed a grade 10 pupil after the pair got into a fight allegedly over a cellphone at Tokelo Secondary School in Evaton. The 17-year-old grade 10 pupil, who was stabbed, died on the scene, while the grade 9 pupil was arrested.
