Evaton pupil (20) stones and stabs resident (40)
EVATON. - A case of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH) is being investigated by the Evaton Police after a pupil (20) from Charlotte Maxeke Secondary School in Parktown, Evaton allegedly stoned and stabbed a resident (40) last Wednesday.
It is said that the resident was passing by the school when he saw the pupil climbing through a hole in the school’s fence. He apparently tried to reprimand the pupil, telling him get back to class. That is when the pupil became infuriated and started throwing stones at him before taking out a pen and stabbing him several times. Police Spokesperson, Captain Aubrey Moopeloa, said that the pupils’ actions caught the attention of other pupils nearby, who came to the residents’ rescue and stopped him from continuing with the vicious attack.
Police were called to the scene and the injured resident opened a case which was registered as assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm (GHB). The police searched the school premises on the day but the suspect could not be located. Moopeloa said that the following day police undertook a search operation of all pupils in the school, where they discovered a few knives and scissors.
The suspect was still nowhere to be found. “We would like to warn school pupils that they should go to school to learn and not to get involved in illegal activities, as they will face the full wrath of the law. They should act and behave like school children. We will be on the lookout for the suspect and will also be visiting other schools in the area to continue with our search for weapons, drugs and to hold motivational talks. These are our children and we cannot afford to neglect them.”
