On arrival, the driver and the passenger were asked for the papers of the livestock which  they failed to produce.

THE BARRAGE. –  Two African males were arrested recently by the police in The Barrage after they attempted to sell stolen livestock at a nearby auction.

According to  spokesperson Warrant Officer Simon Mofokatsane, Police received a tip off about a white Isuzu vehicle that towered a load of cows and one bull from Orkney. They  were told that the vehicle carrying stolen livestock was making its way to the Hersa auction.

“Upon receiving a tip-off,  both Sergeant Alwyn koekemoer and Sergeant George Forchee rushed to the auction where they  waited for the van to arrive. On arrival, the driver and the passenger were asked for the papers of the livestock which  they failed to produce.

“The two officers also discovered that the thieves had attempted to mark the cows but found that the mark on the ears of the cows and the ones on the bodies did not match.”

The suspects were arrested and have since appeared in court.
