“We would urge them to close early, around 20:00, or to sell from the petrol cashier window, so that people don’t have a direct contact with the cashier.”
Funda further warns residents in Vereeniging to not leave any valuables in their cars, adding that the theft of vehicles is still rife in the Three Rivers area.
Funda reports that a total of 43 people had been arrested for various crimes.
“Several suspects were arrested on charges that include: possession of drugs, driving under the influence, dealing in drugs, shoplifting, possession of suspected stolen property, assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm, theft, public violence, house breaking and theft, contempt of court, malicious damage to property and common robbery. “All the arrested suspects are to appear in the Vereeniging Magistrates’ Court. The local community is further warned that there has been a series of house robberies reported to police, in and around Three Rivers, thus it is imperative that people tighten their security.
“Close all doors, including your security doors, even if you are at home.” Funda further asks that the community anonymously report all crime activities that they might be aware of to Crime Stop on 0861 10111 or report using the MYSAPS App. “Information will be treated with the strictest confidence.” Funda concludes.
