SASOLBURG. – Vaalpark Primary School, hailed for its high educational standard over many years, has even more reason to celebrate: At the Fezile Dabi Education District’s first Primary Schools’ Awards Function, held in February, the school was awarded the prestigious title as the “Best Overall Performing Primary School” in the Fezile Dabi District.
Vaalpark Primary also received various other awards at this ceremony. Among them, staff member Gerhard Louw received recognition as the Best Natural Science Educator in the Fezile Dabi District. The results of all the grade 7’s “Common Exam Papers”, in the whole district, were taken into account for this award. Truly an achievement to be proud of!The school was also awarded several sport trophies for some national level achievements such as in rugby, athletics, swimming and cross-country.
Vaalpark Primary was the only school that received recognition for swimming, as well as the only school with Afrikaans speaking learners that received a cross-country trophy. The school additionally received the trophy as “over-all winner” in the category for Schools Excelling in All Seven Pillars of Education. This encompassed: pass marks, subject averages and numbers of distinctions achieved. “As a result of all these wonderful achievements, it is no surprise that Vaalpark Primary School was identified as the Best Overall Performing Primary School in the Fezile Dabi District.
“Primary schools play a vital role in the quality of grade 12 results, and in this regard, Vaalpark Primary is geared to keep on making a huge contribution in years to come,” says Principal Mrs. Karin Baker.
The Governing Body and parents are exceptionally proud of 2019’s Grade 7’s and would like to thank everyone who contributed to the high quality of education at Vaalpark Primary School.
