Phuthang-Setjhaba women do their bit to combat Coronavirus

"This is our way of making sure that we make a difference and contribute to governments fight against the virus.”

SEBOKENG.- Women from a  Co-operative called Phuthang-Setjhaba, based in Zone 10 Extension 3 in Sebokeng are doing their bit to help curb the spread of the endemic Coronavirus.

At a reasonable donation to the Co-operative, the women are sewing masks for both the young and the old in the fight against Coronavirus. Heeding the call made by Health Minister, Zweli Mkhize that the community members must use masks at all times when going to crowded places as a measure against the virus, the women got to work and are making beautiful masks from different cloth materials.

The results are there for all to see.

The women from a Co-operative based in Zone 10, Sebokeng make these cloth masks.

Before the spread of Coronavirus, the women mainly concentrated on taking orders  from their clients and sewing school uniforms, traditional and wedding clothes.

“We are asking only a small donation from the community for the masks so that when shops open we can be able to buy material and continue with our work. This is our way of making sure that we make a difference and contribute to governments’ fight against the virus,” said Mary Makume, Phuthang-Setjhaba’s Treasure.

The masks are made as prescribed by Health authorities, from different traditional Seshoeshoe (Sotho material) and other different materials, and are reusable after washing.
