VANDERBIJLPARK.- The suspected burning of a power station on Currie Boulevard in Vanderbijlpark left some of the areas of the town without electricity today.
The areas included Bophelong, CW areas and NW industrial. The power failure started at around 06.00 am. Community members generally flew into a panic when they suddenly found themselves with melting refrigeration contents even though they had been promised no load-shedding during Covid -19.
It has struck many people that it maybe more than coincidental that load-shedding has struck during the first day of the month when it is cheapest to buy electricity. Emfuleni Local Municipality had not issued a formal statement at the time of going to press.
