Vaal Pets needs your help

"It is my humble appeal to any Good Samaritan who can open his or her purse to assist with any kind of funds."

VANDERBIJLPARK. – The Vaal River Community Care, commonly known as Vaal Pets, is in need for its animals in the area.

The respected non-profit organisation with 39 rescue and 16 doggy hotel camps, based at Kaalplat Plots outside Vanderbijlpark, is a respected animal shelter that house about 200 dogs. Owner, Daniele van Rooyen said that their Vaal River Community Veterinarian Clinic serves Bophelong and Vanderbijlpark.

Vaal Pets also provide the animals with primary health care, vaccines to deworm and parasite treatments. There is also a doggy park for animals to run freely and swim. Before new animals can be welcomed, they are first taken for sterilization, vaccined, dewormed and treated for ticks. Various treatments such as a grooming salon are provided monthly followed by pet education programs.

“It is my humble appeal to any Good Samaritan who can open his or her purse to assist with any kind of funds. Any person who has the love for the animals is welcome to freely volunteer with us.

Van Rooyen brags that two of her oldest dogs are two years old. “They were brought here from Muldresdrift in Roodepoort. Many people don’t like to keep many dogs as they are too expensive to maintain. In a month to feed all this dogs at least R40 000 could be spend,” she said.

Van Rooyen adds that some dogs were brought in just before this period of Covid-19 when the owners moved to Mauritius. After we conducted blood tests, we place them.

We make a point that the dogs are well looked after as per categories and that they do not get into fights, because treatment for their injuries is costly. For the love of the animals I spend most of my time here,” Van Rooyen says.
