No more handshakes in Football

FIFA has also announced that one team must use two buses when travelling, this is part of the social distancing rule.

SEDIBENG. – Everyone wonders if football is about to change for better or worse with new FIFA COVID-19 rules when football returns to action.

The international football mother body, FIFA, has said that there will be a lot of changes in football, on and off the field, when football activities resume and the changes include amongst other things handshakes being stopped, the number of substitution will be allowed to be five from three.

This means that the teams will now have 23 players in the squad unlike in the past when there were only 18 players per team with seven of them on the bench on a match day.

FIFA has also announced that one team must use two buses when travelling, this is part of the social distancing rule.

However, the most important implementation is that any player found spitting during the game will get a yellow card. There will strictly be no handshakes before and after the match.

As if this is not enough, it will be compulsory for both teams to change their kit at halftime. FIFA also revealed that the temperature of everyone who enters the stadium must be checked.

Sedibeng Ster Sport can reveal that some of the rules will be difficult to implement for the Local Football Association (LFA) leagues.

Some of the development teams can’t even afford two sets of playing soccer kits, unless the LFA’s in conjunction with Departments of Sports provides the kits.

All will be seen in due time.
