Community members and EFF help needy family

They were scared that the children would die because of the freezing weather.

EVATON.- It took residents and community leaders to come to the rescue of an Evaton mother and her children from this past weekend’s freezing weather.
Thandi Radebe (32) and her four children were living in a dilapidated shack in Buffalo Road, Evaton, of which its walls were covered in holes.

There were problems with the family’s sleeping arrangements.

Sedibeng Ster was invited to witness the conditions and when we arrived some children were sleeping on the floor, despite the cold weekend weather. To make it worse, the family has been living without electricity for months now. The family was thankful to Economic Freedom Front (EFF) PR Councillors in the Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM), Tony Thobela and Lehlohonolo Malindi, who donated a two room Zozo to them. This was after they were approached by their neighbours about the conditions the family was living in.
One of the neighbours, Palesa Khosi, said they were scared that the children would die because of the freezing weather.

“There is not much to say, but we are happy to have restored the dignity of our black people,” said Malindi.
Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, Radebe said she thanks the community for saving her children’s lives. She was in tears, and also extremely thankful to the EFF leaders for donating the Zozo and food parcels.
“I don’t know what to say, I want to thank God who sent these good Samaritans here.
“I’m happy because my children and I will from now on live in a better home,” said Radebe who has four children aged 14, 13, 3 and 4 months.
