VEREENIGING. – 20-year-old Langa Mabehla from Sonland Park says his biggest dream is to own an art gallery where he will be able to showcase his artwork and to also provide a platform to upcoming artists.
Langa is a self-taught artist who has gained popularity through his drawings and art pieces that have garnered attention from the community at large.
“My interest in art started back in 2012. I started watching a lot of cartoons and that is how I learned how to draw.”
Langa started drawing using pictures of people and after seeing how talented he was, one of his teachers started giving him classes on how to refine and improve on his drawing skills.
At Krugerlaan Skool, Langa studies woodwork. “With this skill, I will be able to infuse it into my art by carving statues of people.”
Langa has from the beginning loved working with his hands and making pieces that can be reckoned with. He has garnered position one in numerous art competitions, including the recent art competition at his school.
He is currently working with oil paints to add some colour to his artistry as well. “I would like people to know who Langa is, I want them to know and take notice of my Art.”
In his drawings, Langa is able to capture emotions and facial expressions that have been depicted in the pictures that people send him. This is something that can only be achieved by a few artists.
Langa believes that hard work and persistence can get you ahead in life.
