Stolen “aquarium” with snake eggs causes havoc in Marikana
"The alleged Sangoma mentioned that the thief had stolen an “aquarium” that was in his home."
BOPHELONG.- More than twenty shacks were blown away by strong winds in Marikana Squatter Camp near Bophelong last week. Reports said that three people, including a pensioner, were killed and several people were left injured.

Many stories have since emerged following the strong winds that uprooted even strong trees. Community members said that they suspected that the havoc was caused by a Sangoma from Lesotho that stays in Marikana Squatter Camp, that they know uses snakes for his consultations.
They said that they believe that somebody might have angered the snakes by taking away its eggs. A woman known only as Puleng, said that the strong winds came immediately after a burglary at the Sangomas shack, “we all knew that heads would roll.”

She said that the alleged Sangoma mentioned that the thief had stolen an “aquarium” that was in his home which is a container suspected to put snake eggs in. A group of angry residents, made up mainly of women, gathered on Thursday with plans to march to the shack of the Sangoma, with the intention of reaping apart his home but this did not happen.
The owner of the alleged stolen “aquarium” and snakes eggs has apparently distributed his cellphone number to community members to help retrieve them. At the time of going to print Sedibeng Ster tried to contact him, his phone was on voice mail.
