Jamela Rehabilitation Centre receives mobile clinic
Making it clear, the MMC said the local truck should serve its purpose to the affected communities.
SEDIBENG.- The Gauteng MEC for Social Development (DSD), Dr Nomathemba Mokhethi unveiled three mobile clinic treatments service trucks recently.
The function was hosted at the Civic Hall in Carletonville, Merafong Local Municipality on October 22. The big trucks, each worth over R1 million, were donated to the Jamela Rehabilitation Centre based in Vanderbijlpark (Sedibeng), an organisation based in West Rand in Mogale City and one in the Johannesburg region. Unveiling the anti-substance abuse strategy, on the day, the MEC said that the integration of the program is a key for the community to benefit.

These mobile clinic are designed to operate only in the three regions. On her keynote address, Dr Mokhethi said her department has prioritised substance abuse.
“The aim is to take service to the people especially in the rural areas. The more we take this substance abuse seriously there more together we will win the battle of drugs.”
Sedibeng District Municipality’s MMC for Social Development, Zaza Raikane, Emfuleni Local Minicipality’s MMC for Social Development Dimakatso Malisa, Peter Kele, George Sibanda CEO of Jamela Rehabilitation Centre and Lawrence Sibanda, Manager of Indibano Centre in Bophelong were some of the dignitaries attending the function, coming from this region. MMC Raikane said the structures need to be more effective to fight the pandemic.
