It is alleged that the man cruelly beat two dogs, threw them with stones and then set them alight. The neighbour’s rushed to the scene when they heard dogs yelping in agony. The smell of burning hair was lingering in the air. The man allegedly stole the dogs from their owner’s property, took them to his backyard and tortured them.
SPCA Inspectors responded immediately to the desperate call for help. The police were also called out for assistance and the man was arrested, with the persistence of our Inspectors, on charges of animal cruelty. The two dogs were rushed to a local veterinarian for emergency treatment and are now safe in the care of the SPCA. Both dogs sustained superficial burn wounds and bruising. One of the dogs was also treated for smoke inhalation.
The local SPCA is still appealing to individuals and companies to donate towards the veterinary expenses and upkeep of these two beautiful creatures that did nothing to deserve such cruelty.
