Lawn Bowls enjoying a resurgence

VANDERBIJLPARK. - Also affected by the Covid-19 pandemic and the lockdown, Lawn Bowls was one of the lucky sports to receive early permission to resume competitions when SA entered Level 1 of the lockdown.

This past weekend Sedibeng Bowls held the District Trips Competition at the Vanderbijlpark Town Bowling Club and Iscor Bowling Club respectively.
Bowls is enjoying something of a resurgence. After a keenly contested men’s final and a tight ladies’ round robin, both of which were very much family affairs, the following teams emerged victorious.
The men’s winners are:
Barend Steyn, Hennie Bester and Koot Steyn from Iscor. The men’s runners-up are Lourens Badenhorst, Dirk Meyer and Jacques Fourie from Sasol Bowling Club.
The ladies winners are:
Lizelle Fourie, Elmarie Badenhorst and Leonie Viljoen from Sasol. The runners-up are Vicky Slater, Hanlie Jonker and Anette Steyn from Iscor.
