EVATON. – Police spokesperson Sergeant Thembeka Maxambela reports that police have opened a murder case docket and are investigating after a 31-year-old man was arrested for allegedly stabbing and killing his older brother in Evaton on Saturday.
According to Maxambela, the two were drinking together when the electricity in the yard went off. “It is alleged that the deceased started insulting another tenant for the power failure and his younger brother went to stop him.
“When this happened, the deceased started fighting his younger brother and scratched him with a knife on the face which resulted in a minor injury. The younger brother overpowered the deceased and took the knife, subsequently stabbing him on the upper body.”
Maxambela states that the man was taken to Levai Mbatha for medical treatment but later died. The suspect fled the scene but was later arrested by police.
