Artistic prowess unearthed in local children
"The aim of the workshop was to give kids a task to draw and paint people that have made an impact in Vaal communities who are from the Vaal."

SEDIBENG.- Happy Dhlame, a visual artist by profession and art facilitator has been engaged on a series of workshops around three provinces.
The workshops started in the Eastern Cape in the Pondo Land, where Dhlame started working with schools in the villages that never got exposed to fine art.
He then travelled to KZN in Nqutu where he worked with kids in the village of Mtshongweni and has finally come to the Vaal, in Palm Springs.
The workshops recently formed part of the June 16 month commemorations.
Dhlame said that on Youth Day, the aim of the workshop was to give kids a task to draw and paint people that have made an impact in Vaal communities who are from the Vaal, mostly personalities that they can resonate with, the likes of local radio presenters, Thabiso Lehoko, Ordrige Dingalo, former TV personality Dosto Noge and former football maestro, Steve Lekoelea to mention a few.
“The purpose of this workshop is to nurture the youth and discover their capabilities in the cultural sector and creative as well as to divert their thinking from the use of drugs, teenage pregnancy and other forms of criminal activities. I see this as an ongoing process that should happen in the Vaal with the help of NGO’s like NAC which has been very helpful to get to this point, DAC, business sectors and the ANC in Sedibeng.”
He thanked the kids that participated and community members who assisted during the workshop.
