Expired goods seized from stores during operation

Sango confirmed that during the operation, some stores were found to be selling rotten and expired food.

EVATON. – A joint operation O Kae Molao carried out by police in conjunction with the Emfuleni Local Municipality By Law Unit, Gauteng Department of Community Safety, Sedibeng Community Safety, Department of Home Affairs and other stakeholders yielded good results.  

Police spokesperson Constable Busisiwe Sango says, “The operation was carried out in the Evaton policing precinct where compliance with Covid-19 regulations was enforced along with compliance with goods as per health protocols.  

“Police checked that people were wearing theirs masks, social distancing and sanitising.”  

Sango confirmed that during the operation, some stores were found to be selling rotten and expired food stuffs.  

“All expired goods were seized and stores were warned against selling expired goods.”

An Emfuleni truck compactor  was used to destroy all  expired  goods that were confiscated from non-complying stores.  

Sango said that police also visited shebeens in the area but none were found to be operating illegally.
