SEDIBENG.- Bafana Bafana stars, Relebohile Mofokeng and Thapelo Mofokeng, are living their childhood dreams to play in Europe.

Mofokeng and Maseko were part of the Bafana Bafana team that made history by reaching the FIFA World Cup 2026 Last 32 for the first time. They secured their place after their standout performance in this global tournament.

Mofokeng went straight to his Belgian club Royale Union Saint-Gilloise after Bafana Bafana was eliminated from the World Cup, leaving the rest of the team behind. However, Maseko had to wait a little longer before he secured his move to Danish club FC Copenhagen.

This was after his former club, Mamelodi Sundowns, decided on his future after his short loan spell with AEL Limassol. Maseko had to train alone to keep himself busy while waiting for a team.

In an exclusive interview with Sedibeng Ster Sport at the send-off dinner hosted by Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) mayor Hassan Mako, the two said it has always been their childhood dreams to play in Europe.

They told Sedibeng Ster Sport that they wanted to emulate the former Vaal players who made a name for themselves abroad.

Former Bafana Bafana Captain Aaron ‘Mbazo’ Mokoena and Augustine Makalakalane are two local players who made a name for themselves abroad.

The two spent more than ten years playing in top leagues in Europe before they came back home. Mofokeng has already established himself at his new club, while Maseko still has to make his debut.
