Motswako revives the arts in the Vaal

The festival was supported by the Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) Arts and Culture Department and the National Arts Council of South Africa along with other professionals working in the industry.

Evaton. – A one of a kind Madcamp Theater Festival was recently held  at the Wilberforce Community College in Evaton.

According to the Managing Director of Motswako Arts Institute Abbey Maeane, the venue was filled to capacity as per Covid-19 regulations.

The community was treated to a jam-packed one day extravaganza which boasted theatre high quality performances and professionalism.

Some of the shows showcased on the day include Madcamp Dance Ensemble, 3-Leaves Clover, Hard Cushions, Bophelo, Phunyuka, Setswana Dance Performance, Marimba Music and Dance, Zamdela Story, Creed and many more film screenings.

The show gave also gave an opportunity to newly trained artists to showcase their vast talents.

“The community was very excited about being invited to such a significant arts event. The fact that we are able to organise such a big event at a heritage and historical place challenged us to do more and the feedback we received from the community was amazing.”
