MCDF aims to do wonders for the community

SEDIBENG. – The disadvantaged communities around the Metsimaholo Local Municipality will soon have a lot to be thankful for.
This is because the Metsimaholo Community Development Foundation aims to make their lives easier in creating jobs and implementing related programmes for the youth in the area. Formed in 2018, the Non-Profit Organization (NPO) that caters for the towns of Orangeville, Sasolburg and Deneysville provides programmes such as skills development, art and culture, a soup kitchen, educational tours, campaigns and seminars against gender Based Violence (GBV).
Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, the organizations’ Chairperson, Tshuku Mokoena said, “The community will get all the basics needs to the better life or health and also our youth will have an access to basic educational support through the community centre that is soon to be built. The organization will also uplift and encourage all different artists within Metsimaholo to be active hence we are going to host annual events and ceremonies where we will give out chances and platforms to anyone with different talents or idea of starting up a solid businesses. Our main aim is to develop the Metsimaholo community.”
Mokoena said that they are still engaging the Metsimaholo Local Municipality’s Human Settlement Department pertaining to the issuing of land where they can build a community centre.
“Our wish is for would be funders and interested parties to provide us with containers whilst the centre is being built. We currently engaging the stakeholders for the implementation of the programmes. Our ground work was stalled by the pandemic (COVID-19), for any developments the community will be informed through the media and social platforms and volunteers will be needed as soon as the programmes are implemented.”
