Looting suspect to apply for bail

The suspect was arrested at his home in Ironside.

VEREENIGING. – It is still yet to be seen whether a suspect in the case of looting incitement will be released out on bail when he will be appearing for the second time in front of the Vereeniging Magistrate’s court tomorrow, 17 August.

The suspect was arrested at his home in Ironside and put behind bars by the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigations (Hawks) on 6 August. He made a brief appearance on 12 August before he was remanded in custody until 17 August.

His lawyers Thomas Mahlobogoane and Jaco van Heerden said they trust that their client would successively receive bail. “He is not posing any danger to the society,” Mahlobogoane said.
